The purpose of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons is to advance the science and art of plastic surgery through surgical education, research, scientific presentations, and professional interaction. The Association conducts an annual scientific program concerning topics of interest to plastic surgeons.

Candidate members wishing to change their status to Active membership only need to submit proof of Board certification to complete their status change.

It is the mission of the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. (AAAASF) to develop and implement standards of excellence to ensure the highest quality of patient care through an accreditation program that serves both the medical community and the public interest by establishing a means for measuring medical competence and providing an external source for evaluating patient safety in the ambulatory surgery setting.

The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), a not-for-profit organization, assists 24 approved medical specialty boards in the development and use of standards in the ongoing evaluation and certification of physicians. ABMS, recognized as the "gold standard" in physician certification, believes higher standards for physicians means better care for patients.

The American Burn Association is dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by burn injury through patient care, education, research and advocacy.

The Association of Academic Chairmen of Plastic Surgery (AACPS) is composed of the program directors / chairpersons and associates of American College of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME ) approved plastic surgery residency programs in the United States. Its goal is to provide leadership and support for educational programs for plastic surgery residents.
